Every picture tells a story. Judy Epperly took one that tells the story of the Paw Path Pollinator Garden at the Smith River Sports Complex.
The Martinsville Garden Club and the Garden Study Club, with wonderful support from the Garden Club of Virginia (we’re so grateful!), created the gardens at the popular walking trail. The whole point of the project was to attract pollinators by providing them with the native plants they need to survive and thrive. It seems only fair in that the project creates a virtuous circle. We depend on pollinators to make it possible to grow so many of the plants on which we survive — and so that we enjoy. (Coffee, blueberries, honey and many more.).
Judy’s picture shows an instance of the desired result.
As with any garden, these are ever a work in progress. Our clubs’ leaders on the whole effort, Becky Farrar and Jill Dickens, have emailed members dates and information for work to be done at the gardens in September. Check your inbox!
